An events day in Barcelona, Spain, with culture and cooking.
Not sure what to do during your stay in the buzzling city of Barcelona, set right on the Mediterranean coast? Come with your company or group and have an afternoon - evening event full of pleasure, which includes a guided city walking tour with typical Spanish tapas and a hands on cooking class, where you get to know some of the Spanish cuisine. An ideal activity for smaller companies and groups and a great way to get to know each other a different and better way.
Programme: In the early afternoon we will meet in the very centre of Barcelona for this fun filled event. 13:00 - 17:00 hours. Cultural and tapas tour in the historical old quarter.
Our meeting point will be Gaudi´s Casa Battlo, a famous creation on Paseo de Gracia street in the heart of Barcelona, where our guide will meet you. This morning we will go for a lovely walking tour along the magical medieval narrow streets of the Gothic old historic quarter, visiting the imposing cathedral and its environs which include the Romanesque church of Santa Llucia, the City Hall and more. Antique dealers, bookshops, restaurants, and unusual shops maintain the activity of this historical district.
During the walk, we will have a Tapas style lunch so you will learn about this famous Spanish way of enjoying small portions of many different specialities accompanied with wine or refreshing beer. Having snacks and drinks from bar to bar is very Spanish and can be lots of fun. Anything from Iberic cured ham and other catalan sausages, tomato bread, anchovies, shrimps stuffed in garlic sauce can be enjoyed as a tapa.
We will end up in a charming coffee bar to rest for a while before we head to our cooking class.
17:00 - 18:00 hours. Visit to the Boqueria Market
Situated on Las Ramblas, a famous, cheerful street with traditional shops, the fresh market La Boqueria is known to be one of the most spectacular and nicest food markets in Spain. It is famous for the quality and diversity of its produce which comes from around the world. The market is located on a site originally intended to be used as the courtyard of the church of Sant Josep. There we will meet our chef to buy the ingredients for our cooking class.
18:00 - 21:00 hours. Cooking class and supper
We will head to our prestigious cooking school, just a few minutes from the market and put on our aprons. The workshop will last about three hours and will consist of a complete menu with first and second dish as well as a dessert, based on regional or other typical Spanish recipes you may wish to learn how to cook such us:
· Gazpacho, tomato soup with garlic, olive oil and other vegetables (depends on time of year) · Spanish omelette with potatoes, onions and more Mediterranean ingredients · Paella: Famous rice dish · Dessert: Catalan cream
We will finish with a delicious supper based on what we have prepared accompanied with excellent Spanish wine.
